What does it mean if my speech doesn’t "qualify" in terms of time? |

Toastmasters encourages every speaker to practice delivering a spoken message within a specified amount of time. All contests have time restraints, i.e. certain minimum and maximum times. If your speech is outside these limits, you are ineligible to win that night’s speaking contest. Your speech, however, still qualifies as a step toward finishing your manual. So, if your speech was supposed to be 5-7 minutes and it only went four, you can’t win the contest for that evening, but you will get credit for giving the speech.
